Fare un buco nell’acqua significa fallire un obiettivo, uno scopo. Si tratta di un’espressione colloquiale che indica un’attività vana, un tentativo inutile o, più semplicemente, un insuccesso. In altre parole, significa agire in modo fallimentare, riportare una sconfitta. Ad esempio: Pensavo di aver fatto bene il compito in classe, invece ho fatto un buco nell’acqua.
